M's Toriumi Rhinoplasty!

My Consultation

I drove from Detroit Michigan. It took about 5 hours. It was pretty easy to find the office.

My first impression of Chicago was WOW! It is so busy! You gotta check out the top of Sears Tower while your there, its worth the ten bucks!

Toriumi's office was immaculate. Everything was very organized and hardly any wait to see him. The staff was very helpful and kind. I have been on quite a few consults and I know several of you can relate to me whan I say that all except Toriumi's staff have been cold and even rude when you ask them a question. Well, you will not have that problem here!

While in the waiting room I looked at the before and afters-they were all beautiful.

They had me take what seemed like professional photos from all angles of my face. The guy was very focused to make sure my head was just right for the pictures. I have not experienced this with any other consult.

I didn't wait long at all in that little room (that we all love I'm sure!) for Dr. T. He came in and shook my hand (firm handshake I might add! Very important!) My photos were already on the computer screen for the imaging. I brought pictures of what I wanted my nose to look like. I didn't even need them. He asked how can he help me. I let him know this would be my primary and basicly told him I wanted a shorter less bolbous tip. As I was speaking he shaped out the exact nose in that photo I brought and I didn't even show it to him! I swear! At this point I was VERY excited seeing that what I wanted could be done.

I want to address the rumors that Dr. T is cold/rude. This is not true at all! True he is very straight forward. He told me what could be done and asked if I had questions. I did bring a list and he answered all of them. When I didn't have any more he left. While speaking he looked me straight in the eyes, smiled, and treated me like a person! Thats right folks! Not just another number. I was very impressed. To be honest I was SCARED before I met him because of the nasty rumors going around the boards that he is cold.

Immediatly my intuition told me this is the one. I feel he is "the best". I feel safe knowing he has done so many rhinos and to be honest his staff kind of sold me as well. This is quality customer service, people!

I will probably schedule for a date in March. The consult fee was $145, the surgeon fee is $5,000. I have a "basic" nose according to Dr. T. This will be my primary and insurance won't pay, so I guess I got a regular fee. Of course anethesia (sp?) is extra depending on how many hours you are under.
If anyone has questions please feel free to e-mail me. I would definatly recommend taking the time to consult with Dr. T if you have been thinking about it.  There is also blood work that needs to be done.  I did it at my local hospital and so far my insurance company has not denied the claim!

I know the "Dr. Toriumi makes big noses" thing has been an issue for some of you. The imaging he did for me did not make my nose look bigger. It could be an issue with revision however. You never know unless you ask him! From what I've experienced he is an honest guy and I'm sure he will answer your questions truthfully.
